The Internship on offer here will give the successful candidate the opportunity to see what it is like to work in a busy Marketing Consultancy and to gain valuable skills and experience that they can put on their CV to help boost career prospects. And after the internship has finished, as long as you enjoy the work and can show yourself to be what we’re looking for, then there is the prospect of a full-time position!

About Lawson Marketing Consultancy Ltd

We are a young but growing marketing consultancy that specialises predominantly in strategic marketing. Our background is in the Publishing sector, but we have clients in private, public and charity sectors. We have a number of very exciting projects on the go at present and are looking upon this internship program as an opportunity to find the next potential member of our team.

About the role

This position is unpaid but local travel and lunch expenses will be paid (we have an excellent canteen onsite and plenty parking). The intern would also be encouraged to attend onsite training courses paid for by Lawson Marketing. The position is for a minimum 3 month period and will be based in our office at St John’s Innovation Centre, but it has the potential to either run on for longer or develop into a paid position (depending on the applicant’s circumstances and ability).

Work would be varied and include:

  • Attending client meetings, gaining an understanding into the consultation process and subsequent compilation of a strategic marketing planning documents
  • Market research and competitor research, both corporate and client-based
  • Organising focus groups
  • Attending networking functions (and optional evening functions)
  • Compilation of tactical marketing plans for LMC and clients
  • Public Relations activities and press releases
  • List building and list testing
  • Updating company website, (this will including undertaking WordPress training)
  • Taking control of the social media strategy and maintaining Facebook, twitter and other SM
  • Reviewing Google analytics and devising web-based ‘tests’ then making recommendations for improvements to the company website / social media strategy

The successful applicant would also have the opportunity to take charge of a major project and run with it (including: campaign creation, time and budget management, liaising with external suppliers and potential customers, design, rollout and monitoring).

Application Requirements:

Language skills:

  • Fluency in English. (German and/or Chinese advantageous but not compulsory.)

IT skills:

  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Regular user of Facebook, Twitter and other SM sites
  • HTML, PHP and other skills advantageous
